All our vets have areas of special interest which are pursued through professional courses and post graduate qualifications.

Stuart Hills

Veterinary Surgeon - Assistant

Stuart is returning to his local area with 10 years mixed practice experience, with a specialism in small animal orthopaedics. Stuart has many varied interests which include vegetable growing and curling.

Colin Rodger
Colin Rodger BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon – Assistant

After Colin qualified from Glasgow he worked at the Willows practice in Cheshire for 3 years doing farm work. He came to us with a lot of large animal experience and has a particular passion for bovine fertility.

Joanna Dick
Joanna Dick BVM&S MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon - Assistant

Jo followed Iain here in 2007 and has become an integral part of the team. She has a medical background in the family although chose to work with the patients that can not answer back! Her interests lie in the small animal and equine side of the practice.

Robert Thurlow
Robert Thurlow BVetMed MRCVS

After working in mixed Practice in Kelso and Devon, Robert bought a practice in Dunscore in 1986 and then the Dumfries premises in 1991 to increase the companion animal side of his interest. Ark Vets purchased his practice in November 2015 since then he has continued to enjoy practising at Glasgow Street as a companion animal Vet.

Kay Hills
Veterinary Surgeon- Assistant

Kay graduated from Edinburgh in 2001.  She started work in mixed practice but now solely works in small animal practice with an interest in internal medicine and acupuncture.

Lyndsey Johnston

Lyndsey graduated from Edinburgh in 2002 and has been with Ark Vet Centre siince 2015. When Lyndsey isn't working hard at the surgery she enjoys spending time with her young family and horse riding.
Ewan Penny

Veterinary Surgeon- Assistant

Ewan, a farmer’s son from Perth, began his career in the NE of Scotland before coming to join us at Ark Vet Centre. Ewan’s interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine.

Alison Brough
Alison Brough BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon - Assistant

Alison joined us after graduating from Liverpool University in 2017. Born and bred in Lancashire Alison enjoys socialising with friends and can be found out shooting or walking, depending on the time of year. Alison came straight to us after graduating and has enthusiasm for all aspects of dairy vetting (and for most other things too!).

Evie Joined us in August 2018 after graduating from Glasgow University in 2017 she worked in a mixed practice in Ayrshire before joining Ark Vet Centre to follow her interests in all aspects of equine work.
Jordan Gillespie

Jordon joined us in Summer 2018.  Jordan grew up in Glasgow, but has spent the last 2 years getting commuting to    Campbeltown to help her fiancé look after their flock of Blackie and Texel ewes.


Ciara McKay
Veterinary Surgeon- Assistant
Ciara joined us in Summer 2018 after graduating from Glasgow University. She's from an Irish family and grew up in Ireland, but having lived in Paisley for many years that's where she now calls home. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, and is a black belt in taekwondo so is looking forward to joining a local club. Ciara is excited to get stuck into all aspects of mixed practice and is especially interested in dairy work and small animal medicine."
Lorna Mundle
Lorna Mundle BSC (Hons) BVSc MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon- Assistant
Lorna grew up in Beeswing, near Dumfries, but has spent the last 18 years in NZ. Lorna trained in NZ and started working as a vet in Canterbury, NZ in 2010 for VetEnt, specialising in dairy. She and her husband farm red deer, and alongside clinical practice Lorna has been the national deer health manager for Deer Industry New Zealand.
